About this objectOne of a pair of matching polychrome dishes, found in a fragmentary state but, apart from a small chip, complete. The dish has a simple uneven rim, shallow body and flat base. The glass sheets were formed by fusing together polychrome cane sections containing strands of opaque white, opaque red, opaque blue, opaque yellow and dark purple glass. The squares are arranged to give the impression of successive diamond-shaped rings in contrasting colours expanding from a central point.
The distorted nature of the original lozenge patterns suggests that the glass is likely to have been remoulded from earlier objects.
When found, hexagonal bottle 2018.6.10 partly overlay the western edge of this dish.
The dish was discussed in a blog post on 9 May 2023.
