North Hertfordshire Museum is a completely new museum, amalgamating the collections of the previous Hitchin and Letchworth Museums, as well as displaying material relating to North Hertfordshire which has never before been shown. The museum illustrates life in the area from prehistory to the present day, with thousands of fascinating objects. The displays include a complete Victorian pharmacy; rare football items, including Bert Trautmann’s neckbrace and Stanley Matthews’ boots; and paintings by the Camden Town artist William Ratcliffe. If you are interested in archaeology, natural history, local history, costume or the Hertfordshire Yeomanry, this is the museum for you. Families are particularly welcome.
