About this objectA porcelain bowl with a metallic rim. The artist chose this as one of his best pots of this style and colour. Few metallic-rimmed bowls of this size survive repeated firings in the kiln without distortion.
Born in Shuhali (Yemen), Abdo Nagi was a goatherd until he left his village aged 12 to get an education in Aden. He came to Letchworth Garden City in 1967, where he settled and raised his family, working as a technician in the Art Department at North Herts College in the 1970s. His work drew inspiration from the desert landscape of his homeland.
