About this objectA ceramic bottle with a narrow neck and a spout about two thirds of the way up the body. The shape is similar to larger narrow-necked jars found at Baldock in the mid second century AD. From a Romano-British cemetery at Great Wymondley.
These objects are usually regarded as feeding bottles for babies (the Italian word tettine is sometimes used to describe them). However, they have also been found in Baldock to accompany the burials of elderly, toothless people. Hertfordshire Historic Environment Record entry.
