Queen Elizabeth, was born on 4 August 1900 as Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon. The Bowes-Lyon family maintained a home at St Pauls Walden Bury in North Hertfordshire and Elizabeth’s birth was registered at Hitchin. Our museum displays her christening gown and family buggy. In her later life Elizabeth was known as The Queen Mother. She lived a very long life, and died at the age of 101. Her death came six weeks after her daughter, Princess Margaret, on 30 March 2002.
