About this objectWatercolour, showing St Ippollitts Church from the north-west. Listed in Comstock A Gothic Vision (1966), p 253, where it is said to have an exhibition label of the Hitchin Art Society reading ‘F.L. Griggs, aged 19’. A title below the right side of the painting is not in Griggs’s handwriting and is not original.
The label has subsequently removed and is stored separately. The work has clearly been removed from a mount, revealing a number 6629 beneath, the significance of which is unknown. Unsigned.
