About this objectView from the Roman Camp by the artist william Ratcliffe. The 'Roman Camp' (in fact a late Bronze Age hillfort) was ten minutes walk from William Ratcliffe's room at the home of the Parker family on Wilbury Road, Letchworth. The chimneys are those of the Arlesey brickworks just across the border in Bedfordshire, which can also be seen in Spencer Gore's famous painting 'The Beanfield', 1912.
