About this objectOil painting of a bull. The artist Thomas Sidney Cooper (1803-1902) was famous for his paintings of cattle and sheep, and became popularly known as ‘Cow Cooper’. Born in Canterbury, where he spent much of his life, he worked first as a coach painter and scene painter before exhibiting at the Royal Academy. He set up an art school in his studio in Canterbury in 1882.
