Name/TitleShirt of the 3rd Hitchin (Brand Street Methodist) Scouts
About this objectShirt of the 3rd Hitchin (Brand Street Methodist) Scouts. The shirt was given to donor by Harry Hawkins, an Ickleford neighbour of theirs, in around 1990. Harry realised that the family of the donor were involved with scouting and asked if they would want this shirt from his own involvement with the group.
It has several badges on both arms and the chest. Many of these read "Boy Scouts". But another is a badge reading N S, for National Service. The shirt is large, suggesting that it may have belonged to either an older teenager or perhaps much more likely a scout leader. It likely dates to the mid 1900s, within the era of National Service (1947-1963) and before the demolition of the Methodist Church in aound the 1960s.
