About this objectPhotograph of Thomas Bellamy House surrounded by construction work. At the bottom of the photograph is the roof of a red car. The donor explained that she took this photo and the photos 2022.12.1-26 as part of a school project in around 1987-88. The project focussed on how Hitchin was chaging. Upon donation this photograph was attatched to a white A4 sized piece of paper and marked as figure 4. and given the caption of "The Old Hitchin Hospital (Listed building)". Reflecting perhaps how it was presented as part of the project.
This photograph and photographs 2022.121.2, 2022.121.3 and 2022.121.4 focus on the old hospital site which was replaced with a supermarket. Thomas Bellamy House was the final hospital building to remain.
These photographs are a brilliant record of changes to Hitchin in the later 1980s.
