About this objectEyes, ears, nose and throat diagnostic set, once used at the Hitchin Hospital. A sticker on the top reads "Gainsborough Ward/ Hitchin".
It was given to the donor (a nurse) upon the closure of the hospital. The donor explained that she thought it was probably put into a drawer when the hospital moved to using single use diagnostic equipment. She explained that prior to single use equipment equipment like this was sterilised after use and then reused.
The set comprises of the box and a handle with eight attatchments. It includes an opthalmoscope for looking at patients eyes, otoscope for looking in patients ears and even equipmement for looking into the mouth.
