Name/TitlePhotocopy of the rules of the Bessemer School Old Boys Association
About this objectPhotocopy of the rules of the Bessemer School Old Boys Association as set out in the first meeting of the association on 3 November 1966.
The Association relates to the school known as Old Hale Way School between 1940-1955, Bessemer School - named after Henry Bessemer of Charlton, between 1955-1974. The school also went by Hitchin School in its final years between 1974-1988.
When the school building was knocked down in October 1992 former student Bob Prebble was inspired to write a book on school history. He was able to write his book following appeals in the local press to find information and objects, like this photocopied set of rules. The book launch was staged on 9 November 2002 at the British Schools Museum in Hitchin.
The photocopy is across three pages (2022.91.1-3) and sets out how the Association would run.
