Name/TitleHitchin Historical Society Newsletter September 2000
About this objectHitchin Historical Society Newsletter for September 2000. In the newsletter is an article in which Bob Prebble calls for objects and information to help him finish his book project.
The book 'Before the Paint Was Dry' was about the school known as Old Hale Way School between 1940-1955, Bessemer School - named after Henry Bessemer of Charlton, between 1955-1974 and finally Hitchin School between 1974-1988.
When the school building was knocked down in October 1992 former student Bob Prebble was inspired to write a book on school history. He was able to write his book following appeals in the local press to find information and objects, like the one in this newsletter. The book launch was staged on 9 November 2002 at the British Schools Museum in Hitchin.
