Name/TitleDecember election 2019 Liberal Democrat election flyer (Hitchin & Harpenden)
About this objectA flyer promoting the Liberal Democrat candidate for Hitchin & Harpenden in the December election of 2019, sent to the resident of Flat 7 Balliol Chambers in Hollow Lane, Hitchin. The December election of 2019 was dominated by the subject of Brexit and the argument around 'getting Brexit done' and the 'oven ready deal' of Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The issue of Brexit was incredibly divisive across the country and also within Hitchin & Harpenden. Peter Lilley the Conservative MP during the 2016 referendum backed leave whereas Hitchin & Harpenden voted to remain by 60.21%. Sam Collins advocated the national Liberal Democrat position to 'Stop Brexit' as well as presenting his work as District Councillor in matters of the environment and rail services along with as an expression of passion for schools, the NHS and social care.
Sam Collins came second in the race for election, moving ahead of Labour and increasing his vote percentage by 24.8%.
