About this objectMargaret Brynhild Parker (1907–1987) was a British illustrator and painter, and part of the East London Group. She signed herself Brynhild Parker. Brynhild was the niece of Barry Parker who was one the architects of Letchworth Garden City along with Raymond Unwin. Brynhild was influenced by the artist William Ratcliffe who stayed with the family on and off throughout his life. Parker moved to France in the 1940s. This painting was once part of the Hertfordshire County Council School Loan scheme and was donated to the museum by the County Council ahead of a sale of art from that collection in 2019.
