The Museum can identify all types of objects, including archaeological artefacts, from North Hertfordshire.
If you find what you think may be an archaeological object, please contact us to carry out an identification. We will give you a description and date for the object along with a photograph. With unusual objects, this may take up to four weeks, but most finds can be identified straight away.
We pass details of finds on to the Hertfordshire County Council Historic Environment Record, which records the location of archaeological finds, buildings, fieldwork and remains of all types in the county.
We usually ask for the National Grid Reference for every findspot. If this is not possible, we will ask you to mark it on a map.
We regret that we cannot give valuations for the things we identify.
