School Workshop Session

WW2 – The Home Front

  • History

Immerse your class in the realities of life during World War Two with our interactive workshop. Aligned with the curriculum this workshop makes history tangible and unforgettable.

Experience the challenges and resilience of life on the World War 2 home front in this immersive workshop.

Students will handle real wartime objects to uncovering their uses and acting out their own public information videos to share vital wartime messages. The class will roll up their sleeves and milk a cow just like the Women’s Land Army, learning about their crucial role in keeping Britain fed. They’ll take on the responsibilities of an Air Raid Warden, using a stirrup pump to put out a fire, just as people did during the Blitz.

The class will investigate a real evacuee’s suitcase, discovering the essential items children needed when leaving home for safety. On top of this the students will act out the convoy system to uncover its importance in keeping supplies flowing.

Session can be linked to Local History.
