School Workshop Session
Viking & Saxon Lives
- History
Let your students experience the thrilling tales of Viking raids and Saxon life firsthand in our Viking and Saxon workshop.
This is tailored to either Saxon or Viking life, as they dressed and lived very similar lives. We adjust for difference in religious and cultural practices.
In this workshop students will delve into the world of the fascinating customs of the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. Your students will explore a burial site to uncover the life of a pagan fighter, handle an authentic sword and armour, and learn about the clothing worn by the Saxon and Viking families. We’ll also reveal how they turned sheep’s wool into cloth and give students the chance to try their hand at carding wool. The workshop dives into their rich storytelling traditions with an immersive storytelling session that brings ancient tales to life.
To top it all off, students will discover the Saxon roots of North Herts and the types of food and drink these people relied on.
