The Industrial Archaeology of North Hertfordshire

The Industrial Archaeology of North Hertfordshire may sound like an oxymoron: our district is mainly agricultural. 

Scratch the surface, though, and you’ll find that not only were there once significant heavy industries in the area but that our definition of industrial archaeology is incomplete. This talk proposes a broader definition of the discipline to include the social archaeology of recent centuries, with surprising and important results.
