Punk: more than music

The Sex Pistols. The Damned. The Clash. Bands that had an immediate and lasting impact on the music scene in Britain and beyond.

Yet punk was about so much more. Fashion styles involved the concept of bricolage, the bringing together of disparate and often contradictory elements, graphic design used cut-and-paste techniques, the entire ethos was one of do-it-yourself. This talk argues that it signalled, even created, a profound cultural shift that remains with us, fifty years on.
