The museum has spaces where we display temporary exhibitions, using objects from our own collections or objects borrowed from other museums. The large exhibition gallery is downstairs, off the Discovering North Herts gallery, while there is a smaller space – The Arches – in the upstairs Terrace Gallery.
The Exhibition Gallery
We have a large flexible space downstairs devoted to temporary exhibitions, reached through the Discovering North Herts gallery. This is where we show things borrowed from other museums and galleries as well as objects from out stores that are not part of our permanent displays.
The Arches
The Terrace Gallery has a display area alongside the arched windows of Hitchin Town Hall, hence the gallery’s name. The photograph above shows part of an exhibition in place. Artists, makers and groups are able to submit work for consideration for exhibitions lasting 4 to 8 weeks. If you want to hire the space to show your work, please email us.
