Seemingly opposite, punk and power-dressing were both influenced by post-modernism – the reaction against modernism, with its simple rules and universal truths.
Post-modernism was born from a scepticism that challenged these certainties, collapsing the distinctions between high and popular culture, breaking established rules about style or art, and embracing freedom of expression. From Mohawks to Margaret Thatcher, Vivienne Westwood to Jeff Koons, this talk will take you back to the world of big hair and even bigger shoulders, safety pins and ripped T-shirts.
