Bring the magic of the festive season indoors with this creative, hands-on workshop! In this festive session, children will weave their very own standing Christmas tree decorations.

We will start by weaving colourful satin ribbons, intertwined with sparkling threads to create a shimmering tree. Once the weaving is complete, children will mount their creation onto its decorative stand, which can then be personalised with extra festive cheer.

Designed for children aged 4–11 with some hands-on assistance from parents or grandparents, your child will learn how to layer ribbons and add sparkle to make their own unique decoration.

All materials are provided, including a wide selection of sparkling ribbons, wools, and fibres for decorating the stand, ensuring every Festive Tree creation is special!

About the Tutor: Lucy is a woven tapestry artist who weaves from her studio in Letchworth Garden City. Her work is an exploration and development of process and fibres with light play and discarded fibres while sharing the beauty, tranquillity and needed balance she sees in local habitats.
It is important to Lucy to maintain a sustainable art practice by recycling and upcycling fibres, this has become an integral part of how she works and has a direct effect on design and size of a piece. Work is woven using good-quality waste fibres, either from a craft stash, a box at the back of the garage, or from yarn suppliers and rug manufacturers.
A member of The British Tapestry Group, The Wynd Gallery and various textiles associations Lucy regularly exhibits locally and nationally, along with delivering talks, workshops, and courses.
