Circle Weaving, seasonal colours and textures – weaving workshop
◉ Saturday 21 November, 11am – 1.30pm
Relax into the rhythmic weave in this creative workshop as we explore the art of circle weaving using waste craft and textile fibres.
Taking inspiration from the splendour of autumn, with its golden hues, striking reds, and earthy browns, or the upcoming sparkle of winter and the festive season, you will learn how to build a beautiful, textured piece within a circular frame.
This workshop encourages you to experiment with various textures, colours, and patterns to create a unique woven hoop, using recycled and surplus materials to create eco-friendly textile art. Whether you want to follow one of Lucy’s designs or let your creativity flow freely, Lucy will be on hand to demonstrate a range of techniques for you to incorporate into your work while she guides you through the process.
This workshop is ideal for both complete beginners and experienced weavers looking to try new ideas.
All materials and equipment are provided.
No weaving experience is needed. For adults and ages 14+
£30 per person
Don’t forget, you can present your ticket or receipt at our café on the day of the event to receive 10% off your order.
About the Artist
Lucy Sugden is a woven tapestry artist who weaves from her studio in Letchworth Garden City.
It is important to Lucy to maintain a sustainable art practice by recycling and upcycling fibres. This has become an integral part of how she works and has a direct effect on the design and size of a piece. Her work is woven using good-quality waste fibres, either from a craft stash, a box at the back of the garage, or from yarn suppliers and rug manufacturers.
A member of The British Tapestry Group, the Wynd Gallery and various textiles associations, Lucy regularly exhibits locally and nationally, along with delivering talks, workshops and courses.
