Hidden Healing – Arches Exhibition

“Hidden Healing” brings Becky Ullah’s collection of medicinally inspired artwork back to Hitchin, the town where she was born.

Drawing on her 15 years as a clinical doctor, Becky explores the surprising natural origins of modern Western medicines, uncovering the stories hidden behind the treatments we know today. From chemotherapy drugs discovered in sea squirts and plants, to medicines with roots stretching back centuries, each artwork reveals an unexpected connection between nature, science and healing.

Beautiful, intriguing and rooted in real medical discoveries, Hidden Healing invites you to look beyond the medicine cabinet and discover where some of our most important treatments began.

This exhibition is in our The Arches display space, which is located upstairs in the Terrace Gallery

About the artist: Born in Hitchin, Becky Ullah spent 15 years working as a clinical doctor across Hertfordshire before following her love of horticulture and painting to become a full-time artist four years ago.

Her work explores the natural origins of modern medicines, uncovering the fascinating stories behind some of the treatments we use today. Her paintings combine beautiful botanical imagery with hidden anatomy and microscopic details, often revealing the effects these discoveries can have on the human body.

Becky has become part of the local arts community through fellowships with Digswell Arts and her residency at The Settlement in Letchworth. Her work has also been exhibited with the Royal College of Physicians and the Society of Botanical Artists. Most recently, her medicinal collection was shown as a solo exhibition at University College Hospital London.
