The museum was delighted to exhibit work by internationally known potter Abdo Nagi (1941-2001).
Born in Yemen, he spent his early childhood as a goatherd. Aged twelve, Nagi walked to Aden, where he found domestic work, coming to Letchworth with his employer in 1967.
After taking O- and A-levels in art, he became a pottery technician at Hitchin College, and from there gained a ceramics degree at Middlesex University.
Abdo Nagi spent his life in Letchworth perfecting his pottery shapes and glazes, from early domestic wares to elegant stoneware vases and dishes with metallic rims. His work has been increasingly sought after since his death in 2001.
The exhibition included pieces from the museum collections and many private loans.
