Weave a Garden Scene – Kids Weaving Workshop
Weave a magical garden picture.
Using colourful wools, ribbons and threads, you will weave your own garden scene before adding the creatures and flora that live there. Younger children can explore texture and colour to create grass and sky, while older children can learn how to shape, build and blend colours in their weave. Once woven, decorate and add mini beasts and flowers to bring together your woven picture.
Suitable for ages 4-11
£10 per child
Don’t forget, you can present your ticket or receipt at our café on the day of the event to receive 10% off your order.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
About the tutor
Lucy Sugden is a woven tapestry artist who weaves from her studio in Letchworth Garden City. Her work is an exploration and development of process and fibres with light play and discarded fibres while sharing the beauty, tranquillity and needed balance she sees in local habitats.
It is important to Lucy to maintain a sustainable art practice by recycling and upcycling fibres, this has become an integral part of how she works and has a direct effect on design and size of a piece. Work is woven using good-quality waste fibres, either from a craft stash, a box at the back of the garage, or from yarn suppliers and rug manufacturers.
A member of The British Tapestry Group, The Wynd Gallery and various textiles associations Lucy regularly exhibits locally and nationally, along with delivering talks, workshops, and courses.
