The Artist’s Room,
by William Ratcliffe

This exhibition displays over 30 oil paintings from the previous Hitchin and Letchworth Museums, shown together for the first time ever. On display will be paintings by Camden Town school artists William Ratcliffe and Spencer Gore, as well as works by Hitchin’s famous Lucas family. The paintings range in subject matter from landscapes to portraits, from North Hertfordshire villages to views of Venice and Jerusalem.

It is in the main Exhibition Gallery, on the museum’s ground floor.

Krysia’s paintings are original, bursting with a vivid imagination but balanced by the elegance of the line, bold colours and imbued with a certain poetic, Slavonic wistfulness, especially in the eyes, which makes her work very distinctive.

Krysia is a professional artist living in Bygrave, with a studio in Hitchin, who specialises in striking colourful portraits.

This exhibition is in the Arches Gallery, part of the upstairs Terrace Gallery.
