Keith points out pit on archaeological site

The community excavation at Norton uncovered a rare Neolithic henge

The Museum Service supports local groups wishing to discover their heritage through archaeological fieldwork, from planning a project through to finally writing up and publishing the results. We are able to offer specialist advice on all aspects of field archaeology, the identification of finds and helping to publicise discoveries. We can provide a little on-site assistance, including training in archaeological techniques, depending on staff availability.

Recent projects in which the Museum Service has helped include the excavation of a nationally-important Neolithic henge in Norton, Letchworth Garden City, organised by Norton Community Archaeology Group, and a series of test pits looking at the village of Codicote, organised by the Codicote Local History Society. If you have a project or are thinking of starting one, please contact us.
