About this objectA small ceramic jug probably of early fifth-century date. It appears to be either an Oxfordshire Slipped Ware or a late Much Hadham Ware copy; no parallels for the form exist among Oxfordshire wares. Found in a fifth-century grave in California, Baldock, together with a pedestalled and handled cup of equally unusual design that appears to be part of a matching set.
