Perks and Llewelyn’s pharmacy; the stained glass of the office door was designed by the artist Theodore Kern

The Pharmacy Collection comprises some 2,700 items. Most of this is owned by the Hertfordshire Medical and Pharmaceutical Museum Trust, under the care of the Hitchin Historical Society but loaned to the museum. The reconstructed Perks & Llewellyn pharmacy in the Living in North Herts Gallery is an important part of this collection. The company had grown and distilled lavender in Hitchin from the 1790s; its shop stood in High Street, Hitchin, and closed in 1961.
