World Heritage Day at North Herts Museum

18 April @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm

The cauldron from a late second century BC burial found in 1968 at Baldock: the earliest of a type of wealthy burial found across south-eastern Britain, northern France and Belgium

18 April has been celebrated as World Heritage Day since 1984. The Day is promoted by UNESCO, which says that ‘heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration’.

At North Hertfordshire Museum, our collections include objects that tell the stories about the heritage and culture of our district. Some even tell wider stories about the history of humanity, from its beginnings in Africa more than two million years ago, up to our present globalized world.

Come in to hear curators talk about their favourite objects on display and how they help us to celebrate our cultural heritage. They will be in the galleries at 11.00 and 14.00. Each talk will be about a different object, will last about 20 minutes and are free.
