Home and Away – Paintings by Barbara Heaton and Anne Parker
22 April @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
This collection brings together several paintings by local artists Barbara Heaton and Anne Parker.
The paintings reflect their love of interesting and beautiful scenes at home in North Herts and on travels and holidays.
Barbara Heaton
Barbara has been a long-term member of Letchworth Art Society and regularly exhibits with the group.
For many years she studied under Sylvia Molloy and was an invited member of her ‘North Herts Group’ which exhibited in Letchworth, Hitchin, Stevenage, Hertford, Bedford and Cambridge. Barbara has also studied with Pier Luigi Baffoni and Nigel Markham and been on many tutored painting holidays.
Barbara has also won three competitions, two in ‘The Artist’ magazine and one in ‘The English Garden’ magazine. She has had two exhibitions at Letchworth Museum, one of which was shared with the potter Abdo Nagi. She also staged an exhibition alongside her friend Maureen Phipps at what was then known as ‘The James Willis Gallery at The Place’, now the ‘Broadway Gallery’.
Anne Parker
Anne is a fourth generation resident of Letchworth Garden City. Her great-grandfather owned one of the first houses to be built in Letchworth. She enjoys living near Norton Common, which inspires many of her paintings.
Before Anne retired, she taught in local primary schools and her specialist subjects were arts and crafts. She particularly enjoyed watching and helping children be creative. After she retired, Anne did an art course with The Open College of the Arts and well-known local artist James Willis was one of her tutors.
In 2022, twelve of Anne’s paintings were featured on a Letchworth Garden City Calendar sold in support of the Garden City Hospice Charity. Anne has exhibited in London and had solo exhibitions locally. She is also a member of and has exhibited with, Letchworth Art Society.
